On 6 May 1970, founding members Claude E. Duncan and Lt Col Joe Miles established a new Daedalian flight at Norton AFB. The flight was originally named Hal George Flight in honor of Harold Lee George II—one of the founders of the Order of the Daedalians—known throughout the early Army Air Corps as “Bomber George.”
To avoid confusion with another distinguished officer of similar name, Brigadier General Harold Huston George, who was known as “Pursuit George,” the flight’s name was later changed to Pursuit George Flight.
Over the years, the flight’s membership expanded to include officers from Norton AFB, George AFB, March AFB, and the 56th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards AFB.
On 31 March 1994, following the closure of Norton AFB, Flight 30 merged with the 67th Flight from March AFB. Two years later, on 1 April 1996, March Air Force Base transitioned to March Air Reserve Base, and Flight 30 established its permanent home there.
Today, Flight 30 stands as a proud Daedalian organization founded on the enduring principles of camaraderie, esprit de corps, and the promotion of air and space power. The flight remains dedicated to inspiring the youth of tomorrow who aspire to become commissioned officers serving the United States.
